    Hello,

We at Kuwait Zoo have a surplus of three species of primates and we need to let go of some of them because we are running out of space. We are searching the net for zoos, sanctuaries and any organizations that might be able take them so that they won't be euthanized. The three species include: Hamadryas baboons, Vervet monkeys, and Rhesus macaque.

Please help or recommend possible places that might be of help or might take the surplus.

Thank you for your time and help.

    Regards,

    Kuwait Zoo

Still searching for places to take the primate surplus

We contacted the Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre but they couldn't help. Please recommend other places. We still need help in giving these animals a better home.

    Thank you.

A comparable organisation in Holland would be "Stichting AAP" in Almere, Netherlands.

    AAP Foundation - Home

Perhaps they can help out, either by taking them in or mediate...

I bet are not the easiest monkeys to place though, have you thought about a strict non-breeding policy from now on or you'll be in the same situation very quickly...

Available Budget for transportation of the primate surplus

Kuwait Zoo now has a budget for transporting the primate surplus to any sanctuary or organization that would take them.

    The primate surplus now includes:
Hamadryas Baboons: 20 males, 10 females
Rhesus Macaque: 10 males, 2 females
    Patas Monkey: 3 males
Vervet Monkey: 6 males, 12 females
    Ring-tailed Lemur (family of 3) 1 male, 1 female, 1 young male

The primates can be allocated to different organizations. In other words, not all these primates need to go to one single sanctuary.

Please note that all the males will be castrated before transportation.

    Please help. Thank you.
