Yokohama Hakkeijima Inc., the company behind Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise and five other Japanese aquariums, have announced plans for an aquarium in northwestern Taiwan. Interesting. I don't know how they'll manage with the Taiwanese public attitude towards animal welfare. YH Sea Paradise, for instance, keeps a whale shark in a stadium pool throughout their dolphin shows; Taiwan's National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium was pressurised to release their last whale shark with the government being asked to halt any further plans for exhibition in the 33x22x~10m tank.
