I tend to have the same cynicism too. The simple narrative appealing to emotion usually has the impact unfortunately.
You know it was only banned to stop the dog ripping the foxes apart, the ban was never to stop fox hunting, or the use of dogs for tracking?
Daily Telegraph mentioned it in an article where they interviewed Damian Aspinall; it's only an aside, but... Damian Aspinall: Aquarium fish should be released (telegraph.co.uk) Should somebody email them to clarify that this is incorrect? How does one go about doing that?
It is also strictly illegal, releasing invasive and exotic species. Off ones rocking horse ... Mr. DA.
I don't have a subscription - don't have the disposable income for one (I rely on money from my parents) . I suppose one could email.
If I was bothered by the 'news' item myself, I'd take advantage of the free trial and cancel the subscription straight away, just to post something. However, I don't think it would really make an impact on the paper or Aspinal.
Sorry to rehash an old thread but there is an article in the Spectator relevant to the above (if you can bear reading about such tiresome and irritating people...) - The Zac Pack: the well-connected group quietly shaping Tory policy | The Spectator
An interesting look at No. 10 power games and how opportunism and secret lobbying are shaping policy: the continuum of subterfuge politics as Big Dog would have it ...
Just confirms we all knew and feared. My own MP down played the worrying articles and quoted Mr Goldsmiths "we not looking to ban Elephants" but a breeding ban would do such a thing over a longer period.
Ah, Damian hired the PM's wife..? If anything, whatever one thinks of Damian's view of animal captivity, I'd think that Carrie here was hired largely for publicity - regardless of one's political or zoological views, having a large public figure onboard will definitely be helpful in possible indoctrination. To add, most of what the big figures see are mainly either pro-zoo advocacy from zoological figures, or explicitly anti-zoo advocacy from animal rights groups. I'd say that it would be very good to see more of a middle ground, but I'm not sure how likely that would be..
