The port city of Qinhuangdao is located on the famous Bohai Sea, 190 mi east of Beijing in the Hebei province. About 3 million people live in this region. One of the most popular destinations is the Wildlife Park Qinhuangdao. Wildlife Park Qinhuangdao 秦皇岛野生动物园 39°51'39.82"N 119°31'2.72"E The 333 ha park was opened on July 18, 1995. In the same year the zoo acquires 1.1 Asian Elephants "Pa Bo" & "Ma Qing". On Jan. 12, 2007 0.1 Asian Elephant "Jin Zhu" is born (the young cow was delivered to Changzhou in April 2011). Another bull elephant was born here on March 17, 2010. The seventh elephant birth was announced by the park on June 30, 2018. On the beautiful landscape the park among others is home to lions, tigers, bears, wolves, giraffes, zebras, alpacas, kangaroos, Deer as well as Siberian, Manchurian & White-naped Cranes, Oriental White Storks and of course an enormous number of Peacocks which are so popular in China. Contrary to the mentioned generous facilities, the monkeys except for the ring-tailed lemurs in the area of Lemur Island are only cared for in very narrow cages. 2015 the Park acquires 2 White Rhinos. Other parks with zoological facilities in this region include: Ledao Ocean Park http://www.lertao.com/ 39°57'15.52"N 119°45'8.36"E The 26 ha amusement park was opened on July 22nd, 2004 14 km northeast of Qinhuangdao, initially under the name Shanhaiguan Happy Ocean World. Only 2 years later it is renamed Ledao Ocean Park. In addition to numerous amusement attractions, the park has a 10 hectare lake with 2 large islands. On both islands there is an Aquarium, Shark Pavilion, Seal Bay and Polar Pavilion. In Nov. 2016 the park acquired 3.3 Beluga Whales. Xin-Ao Underwater World http://www.qhd-xinaouww.com/home.php 39°54'18.20"N 119°33'24.18"E As a Chinese-Australian joint project 6 km south of Qinhuangdao the Underwater World was opened on July 1st, 1998 . On May 1st, 2000 the Dolphin Performance Hall was built. Visitors will also find a Penguin Pavilion, Seal Pavilion and a 100 m long 270 degree Undersea Tunnel. In 2015 5 Bottlenose Dolphins, 3 Beluga Whales, 1 Walrus and 2 Sea Lions lived here. Royal Blue Ocean Park http://slhygy.com/ 39°40'3.05"N 119°19'9.04"E In May 2015 another Amusement Park was opened 60 km south of Qinhuangdao on a 240 ha site with some animal facilities. Among others the park offers its visitors a Dolphin Stadium, Seal Pool, Turtle Pond and according to his own information over 200 different Goldfish species.
