There are some crazy and unusual animals out there that never or hardly ever get a mention, anywhere... If you walked up to a member of the public and told them the name of this animal they would look at you and think your crazy. So make a list of animals that are hardly ever seen or heard about that you think derserve a mention. Any animals are allowed, including sub species or recently extinct animals in the last few hundred years, also obviously you cannot repeat animals if they are in somebody else's list.
    Animals:
    Dingiso
    Long-Watteld Umbrella Bird
    Bare Necked Fruit Crow
    Chinese Ferret Badger
    Burmese Ferret Badger
    Flores Giant Rat
    Red Crested Tree Rat
    Hopolodactylus Delcourti (Extinct)
    Sumatran Rabbit
    Volcano Rabbit
    Ili Pika
    Giant Hispanilonan Galliwasp
    Blue-Tailed Galliwasp
    Celestus Fowleri
    Mountain Giant Sunda Rat
    Tibetian Blue Bear
    Capuchin Bird
    Christmas Island Shrew (Possibly Extinct)
    Visayan Warty Pig
    Pygmy Hog

I have barely scratched the surface (especially in the primates, birds, reptiles and amphibians) and would love to see your lists.

I don't even think we have to get that obscure. I think that if you walked up to a random person on the street and asked him to name at least a few of the 16 crocodile species, most (or at least many) would be surprised that there are actually different species instead of a crocodile just being a crocodile. Same thing with lemurs, pigs, ducks, storks, frogs and lots of other taxons.

Good point! I know so many people who are convinced that their is just 1 armadillo species. The armadillo! To animal nerds like us that can be kinda frustrating sometimes. Same with flies,
    Heck, Even Jellyfish!!!

But many animals that are well known in the zoochat world are not well known to the general public

Speaking of Sumatran rabbits, Here's a cool video. Its kinda outdated, but it is one of the few sumatran striped rabbits caught on film. Have a look!

    Almost all rodents and lagomorphs.

Stink badgers and ferret badgers. Pretty much everything from madagascar that isn't a meur or fossa. A lot of the "lesser" deer and antelope species. Beaked dolphins/whales.

Presumably because it’s over five years old.

Some of my friends didn’t know that there are one-horned rhinoceros despite living in India.
