Belfast Zoo Red-backed Bearded Saki babies

    I've uploaded in the gallery section a few pics of the Red-backed Bearded Saki babies that were born on 4th and 19th October at Belfast. Hope you like them! :)

    I can't make out what you are feeding them on - it looks rather like cherry pie :D

    Alas, no cherry pie!:( They do like cherries though!) The food in the pic is pomegranate, mango, and some mixed nuts (peanuts, almonds, Brazil, Hazel etc). As would be expected from a species that has specially adapted teeth for cracking them open, nuts are without doubt their favourite food item, followed by seeds, then ripe exotic fruit such as mango, but they also show a marked fondness for peas and beans. That old hardy favourite of a number of primate species: banana, is well down the list.
