    I think they are doing it as visitor numbers are down, no big animatronic attraction this year and the animazing activities are really not so amazing plus no cute babies to pull people in. Lots of people who usually go to Chester in the summer hols have opted for Blackpool instead as it is cheaper and has Tiger and wolf cubs.

    I realise this is posted as an opinion, but is there any evidence of falls in visitor numbers and 'switching' to Blackpool?

    it's just not been as busy as usual from a regular weekly visitor point of view, not had any jam packed days which we usually get over the summer hols. Every one of my friends who usually visit over the summer have gone to blackpool instead which is 9/10 of them I know its not a massive amount but for Chester to give reduced entry something must be going on
