    Introduction

New Zealand Zoos have held both subspecies of Red panda: Nepalese red panda Ailurus fulgens fulgens and Chinese red panda Ailurus fulgens styani.

This thread will focus on the Nepalese red panda as this is the subspecies currently held in the region. I will post information as I find it so updates on a date of death etc. may be posted at a later date if found.

Events that occurred after an animal left the zoo of focus will not be recorded e.g. Badal (born 2002 at Auckland Zoo) was sent to Hamilton Zoo, where he died that year. His date of death will be recorded in the Hamilton Zoo post; but not the Auckland Zoo post.
