I wondered if anyone knew what had happened to the red pandas? I've not seen them out in a couple of weeks and noticed at the weekend that the signage now reads "Coatis".

I know there was an escape last summer, but it just strikes me as odd that they're gone now.

I've not seen any keepers or volunteers around on that section to ask, and my department seem relatively clueless.

Members of the public keep enquiring as to their whereabouts and I'm just as boggled as they are.

    Thoughts?

Yes, sorry. I tried to post it under it, but my attempts evidently failed :(

The red pandas have left the collection. They are no longer listed on ISIS, and are not shown on the latest editions of the zoo map. I noticed their absence following the notorious escape, but recently asked at the information desk, and they confirmed that the red pandas had moved to another zoo (they couldn't remember which).

    No :'(

That must be fairly recent since they were there a month or so ago. Back to macaque watching for me then.

I really should get into the habit of checking the status on ISIS.

    Thanks for that.

The red pandas are back at Whipsnade......there was a talk on them over feb half term and the presenter said they are called peter and geri and were originally at Whipsnade then moved to London and moved back to Whipsnade, with maggie (the panda from Isle of Wight) moving to Banham zoo

Is this the Maggie that was orphaned at Curraghs Wildlife Park? I never knew she went to London/Whipsnade. Lets hope she breeds soon :)

Yep it's the same panda. Just couldn't remember how to spell the name of the park.
