Ahhh, thank you. Since I do not own a television, I am blissfully ignorant.

Thats great news Arizona Docent. I've been watching the San Diego herd ever since Luti was born beginning year of the 4 boys and I catch the Reid Park crew from time to time. Glad you will get to enjoy a newborn elephant calf, maybe a girl you could keep around forever. Hopefully Lungile will help add to the herd eventually too.

According to the zoo's Facebook page, a new male White Rhino named Fireball from The Wilds arrived on October 8th.

Contessa and Tupi, the zoo's Baird's Tapirs, are expecting a baby in the near future.

Nice little video. As for tapirs, the only announcement I see on Facebook is they are expecting "in the near future." Is that what you are interpreting to mean "next year?" I am hoping it will be even sooner than that.

Today, October 29 (2013), the new male rhino went on exhibit for the first time. Luckily, today is my day to volunteer at the zoo and I volunteered to watch his behavior for the keepers, so I got to see and photograph him for several hours.

There is a nice staff photo on the zoo's Facebook page, and I will post a few of my own photos here as soon as I sort them.

I'm finally getting a chance to come down and see the new animals/exhibits. It's been going on four years since my last time there. I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, you plan things well in advance. Do you know how long you will be there? I am at church all morning but I could be there around 1:30pm if you are still around - would love to meet you.

Well, I have to rent a car and I have that week off from work. This is short-notice compared to my usual plannings. Lol. It would be fun to meet another Zoo Chatter so I will see what I can do to hang out at least long enough to meet up with you. I have to make sure to make it to the Harley Davidson dealership to get my brother a shirt for Christmas.
