RIP Mickey Ollson, a man who opened a private zoo in 1984 and grew it to the point where it had an incredible collection of animals. It will be extremely interesting to see what direction the park goes in now. There are 4 aquarium buildings and a dizzying array of species, but the enclosure design has come in for plenty of criticism over the years. I've been astonished to see the constant expansions (Safari Park, Adventureland) and the fact that the facility attracted 500,000 annual visitors when it was only half an hour from Phoenix Zoo is amazing.
