The female Jaguar cub (Catalina) has been transfered to Bordeaux-Pessac Zoo in France. Leaving South Lakes with 1.1 (mother and son)

Is Beau kept separate to the rest of the herd ? from what i gather he is a hybrid. He was due to move to Knowsley a few years back apparently but obviously never did.

They have two groups of Giraffe. A small group of female Kordofan females with calves in the new house and a mixed bachelor group in the original house

Commonly known as the SLZ syndrome... for which there is no known cure. A possible cure could be a complete change in local council but I doubt it greatly.

Sh**te typical! All the same, I really do hope that DA can turn the tables on the facility long term. Bit puzzled with that new recommendation by the Zoo Inspection Team to grant the new company a licence (Wonder really wether this can prevent DG from meddling in the affairs of the main zoo).

If not, closure and redistribution of the entire zoo stock to other UK and EAZA accredited institutions on the Continent is some kinda graceful release.

If they do get the License DG will be like flaming rat up a drainpipe And I am sorry for DA because he won't stand a chance. Just mark my words on this.

138 posts and counting on South Lakes, zero posts and counting on anything else......

Out of curiosity, Farmer, which would give you the more satisfaction - to be proven correct and have South Lakes crash and burn when Gill takes over once again, or to be proven incorrect and have South Lakes revitalised and reaching it's potential under Armitage without any involvement from Gill? I would *like* to think that you would prefer the latter option, but I rather suspect that your pride would demand the former given how invested you seem in proclaiming this will happen.

What would give me greatest satisfaction would be to see SLZ continue with the peace of mind that only an average expected amount of animals would die. The surest saying for this is of course. Time will tell.

Interesting note; the Rhino calf born last year who was originally called 'Indiana' (Same name as a previous calf who was crushed by another rhino) is now being called 'Spud' on the zoos FB page

Gill liked to name several animals after his children. He seems to rename more animals once the original dies. For example There has been Kadi the tiger cub, now Kadi the snow leopard.
