At last a realistic chance at reproduction in SBB for African elephants.

2 litters of Cheetahs born at Beekse Bergen. Because one mother wasn't well after the birth the young were placed to the other mother which accepted the kittens :) :

Male Rhino ‘Limpopo’ is moving to Wildlands Emmen, after being at the zoo since 2015, and siring one baby ‘Ravy’ in 2020. :)

Rather meagre breeding result. Or: Is it confirmed he has mated successfully to other rhino cows at SBB?

Well Karlijn has never bred, and is 35, however Ansje, who is 32, has bred with Limpopo before, in 2017, however the baby was a stillbirth. There might be a slim chance that Limpopo has bred with her again, but I’m not so sure. Even if the ‘birth’ would be successful it would be a very slim chance, due to all her past three babies dying after birth, and her old age. Dounia hasn’t bred since Miguelin left in 2014, so I would also presume that she isn’t pregnant as well, and obviously Sofie just had her baby ‘Ravy’. I’m not so sure on the time period between giving birth, and their next pregnancy, so Sofie could be pregnant, but I’m not sure. Hope this helps :)

Curious that Dounia has not bred since 2014. One wonders!
Karlijn and Ans are no hopers TBH (too old and or reproductive issues).

Also odd that Limpopo only bred with the youngest member of the crash, Sofie, who was only born in 2015.

According to the World Rhino website, 'Kiano' (Marcita x Dino), from Erfurt moved here, around the same time 'Otzee' (Floozie x Kruger), from Givskud also moved here. I presume they are staying with the bachelor males 'Tank' and 'Shango' :)

The 11-year old foster mother has sadly passed away due to kidney failure.

Safaripark Beekse Bergen has said goodbye to its last two California sea lions. 24-year old Joy was suffering from multiple health problems, therefore it was decided to put her to sleep. Because California sea lions are group animals, it was decided to find another home for the 19-year-old Zora. She was moved to a zoo in Germany.

Perhaps the only zoo in history that wasnt able to make California sea lions work.

They also mentioned that the enclosure will not be housing sea lions again, but seals (no species mentioned, but I assume either new harbour seals, or the current harbour seals near the safari resort)

In the group they'd got, there were already a number of animals that were older and/or had health problems. For example, the adult male was blind and one of the females had a benign tumour on her flank.

They are indeed talking about harbour seals. There has been a harbour seal swimming with the sea lions for a while, it came from the Safari Resort. He will now be joined by more harbour seals.
