I recently went to both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and after making a list for the Safari Park, I knew that I should make one for the Zoo. I know that someone (geomorph) has already made a list, but I wanted to make one for this year. The Zoo is quite large, so I may have missed some species, Please tell me if I did. I will be splitting up each area so that I don't lose the list by taking too long. Anyway, on with the list.
(Also, I went on 8/16/18, so I was able to see Africa Rocks.)

FRONT STREET (Counting as an area to list species near Front Street.)

    Front Street Bird Exhibits
    • Flamingo Lagoon: Puna Teal, White Faced Whistling Duck, Ring Necked Duck, Hooded Merganser, Ashy Headed Goose, Southern Screamer, American Wood Duck, Chiloe Wigeon, Rosy Billed Pochard, Caribbean Flamingo
    • Terrace Lagoon: Koi, Mallard
    • Aviary Near Bus Tour Loading: Pompadour Cotinga, Costa's Hummingbird, Violaceous Euphonia, Spotted Tanager, Green Honeycreeper, Paradise Tanager, Purple Honeycreeper, Turquoise Tanager, Andean Cock of the Rock, Kagu, Swallow Tanager, Blue Necked Tanager, Spangled Cotinga, Northern Hawk Headed Parrot

I wish that aviary near bus tour loading was a walk-through one!

It would definitely give visitors a better view of the Kagus!

How the heck did you have time to look at all the animals while keeping track of all of this?! It's a huge help.

I take photos of all the signs so that I can download them onto a device and use them. Also, some exhibits where there are no animals outside, or not in view, I just take a photo of the sign, then move on.

I took pictures of all the signs as well when I visited in June, thinking I would make a species list out of it, but I never got around to it, and now with this list I don’t see a point.

That's my strategy as well, though I'm often not so good at remembering where things were ;)

Did you see any hummers? I recall seeing Anna's signed in the aviary back in late Dec last year, but no hummers to be seen or heard.

Yes, I did see some Hummingbirds in the aviary, not sure what species.
Okay, they were on the signage for the aviary but I will delete them off my list if I can.

Didn't mean to put any pressure on you! You've been doing such a good job with this list and the Safari park's I was really hoping to see it completed! Apologies if you felt a lot of pressure to finish.

Did they actually have the species listed, or did you have to ask a keeper? It's long been a pet peeve of mine that the San Diego Zoo had several species of unsigned fish, it'd be nice if that's changed.

No worries, I felt no pressure.
Yes, they did have signage for them, and also (I was surprised to see this) for the African Cichlid in the Slender Snouted Crocodile exhibit.
