Article just says its the first time the park has done it, not the first time ever. I believe it has been done before.

So it’s 2020, and this would be the year that the Asian plains area will be reopened to the public,
    Any news or progress?

Reopened? Was it ever open to the public?

So they indeed were never formally opened?

I think they meant reopened, as in, you once could see those field exhibits on the old monorail tour.

I believe the cart safari for the Asia section has been there for quite some time.

That has been going on for several years. It is an uncharge experience, so not available to regular visitors unless they want to pay more. At some point the plan is (was?) to somehow make the viewing of the Asia section visible to regular visitors as well as those who sign up for the behind the scene tours.

Is it an uncharge in the same way that 7-UP was the un-cola? ;)

Oops. UPcharge. The spell checker changed it.

A male Sand Cat named Newman just went on exhibit in Nairobi Village, adjacent to the Black Footed Cat (where the Fennec Foxes used to be). I’m excited to go visit him, as I’ve never seen this species before!

Did this last spring. It's expensive but an incredible experience.

I noticed while scrolling through Instagram today that the park received a new male Matschie’sTree Kangaroo named Bek. He’s being slowly introduced to his new exhibit. Does anyone know where he came from?
