The zoo reopened to members only on July 13th, with everyone else having to wait until July 15th. The zoo will only have 50% capacity at its max, outside attractions are available only, people have to social distance, use hand sanitizer, wear masks, take food only from the restaurants and cafes in the zoo, and groups are prohibited from entering the zoo. I like the idea behind the oceanic park. Just when reading and looking into those masterplan documents I was struck how many - darn - roads intersect and surround the zoo allotment. It would be nice if the zoo, developers and city authorities would fix that too! I am glad though they plan on shutting the Highway along the coast. It is unsightly (allthough we have a lot of undesirable development close to our shorelines in the Netherlands ... a highway of sort all along the coast would be a definite no goer and total show stopper. BTW: Just saw the movie Last Black Man in San Francisco. Rather revealing and telling story about the harbour precinct and how things have changed ...

On October 15th, a 5-year-old ring-tailed lemur named Maki was reported stolen from his enclosure. The next day, the lemur was found in the playground of a local church by a 5-year-old boy.
