Anyone got any recent information on the servals at Auckland. I know a few years ago they had a male Indlozi and females Izazi and Shai. Have these had any cubs or oved zoos etc since then?
Currently there are a family unit of four animals at Auckland, the two you've mentioned together with Shey (F00) and Ngozi (F04). They have had additional cubs which if memory serves are now at Hamilton. They were two males I think and tended to try and escape a little to often. Hope that helps.
how meany servals are at the zoo now in 2010 and is shay and ngozi still there or are there new servals now aney info will be great
Last time I checked there was Shey, her daughter whose name excapes me at the moment, Ngozi and the male Indlozi. I think there may have been another female but I cant remember for sure.

Izazi and Mazimba were sisters born in 1997. Mazimba gave birth to a male cub in 2002, they both left the zoo in 2003. Izazi remained at the zoo but never bred. Shai gave birth to triplets in 2004 but I'm not sure what their names are, the father was Indlozi (2000).
Auckland Zoo currently has 4 servals: Male Indlozi (2000) Females Izazi (1997) Shey (2000) Ngozi (2004) Shey's daughter No clue where Mazimba went.
I'm gonna confuse the issue by saying Mazimba went to Germany, as did her only son (born 2002). I believe Izazi has never bred while Shai bred once (as far as I am aware). Shai had triplets: female Ngozi and two males Inkosi and Suda. Suda was transfereed to the National Zoo in Canberra. Someone should email Auckland Zoo as I'm not 100% confident if this is all right,
No, Indlozi came from Germany in 2001. He is the breeding male serval. According to this website, Izazi and Mazimba came from New Plymouth but I don't know any details of parentage. Cub scouts and cat calls from new zoo neighbours - National - NZ Herald News Also, it would appear there has been another attempt at breeding between Indlozi and Shai which was unsuccessful. A caesarian had to be performed to remove the cubs. Sandra Rice | The Zoo | Television New Zealand | Television | TV One, TV2, U, TVNZ 7
Basicly heres the serval time line 1999 - Sisters Mizimba and Izazi arrived from New Plymoth 2001 - Male Indlozi arrived from Germany to breed 2002 - Mzimba and Indlozi breed and ahd a male named Sika Sika moved to Mogo zoo in 2003 where he breed and had a son called Moholo and possibly faher to the 3 females born 2009 and the 4 kittens born in 2008 May 2003 - Female Shey arrived from South Africa 30/11/04 - Triplets were born to Shey and Indlozi 1 female and 2 sons the female named Ngozi remains at Auckland the male Suda left and went to Natinal zoo Camberra but I do not no about the other son 2008 - Attemps to breed Shey and Indlozi ageain failed when a cacerian had to be performed. The currant group to day is male Indlozi and females Izazi Ngozi and her mum Shey Hope this helps
"There are currently no servals on display at the Zoo. A new pair of servals will be at the Zoo later on in the year." What happened to them?
The enclosure is currently undergoing renovations in preparation for the arrival of a new breeding pair later this year was the message at the exhibit on the weekend. While there are none on display, its hard to imagine there are none left at the zoo.
The girls may be getting ready to go to or have already left for Halls Gap Zoo. There was a news article about a months ago in which the Halls Gaps owner said he would be recieving 2 females from Auckland.
Thanks for that info Steve, is she staying at DDZ or moving on to Hall's Gap? The article Sunbear mentioned above is here: Halls Gap Zoo joins fight to save Tassie devils, rhinos | The Wimmera Mail-Times
