Because Okinawa's died recently, and until recently they were the only holder in Japan.

That doesn't make sense - if Okinawa's sharks died "recently" and they were the only holder "until recently", then how did Shikoku also have one at the same time as Okinawa?

Several Japanese aquariums have kept Tiger Sharks, and the inhabitants of Japanese aquariums in general are little-known because there are so many of them.

You haven't given any source as to Okinawa being the only holder, Okinawa's Tiger Sharks now being dead, or even for Shikoku still having a Tiger Shark.

The website of Churaumi Aquarium mentions that at the moment there are no tiger sharks on display. I don't know if this means the animals are dead.

What's your source for them being on exhibit?

I haven't said they are on exhibit - I'm asking for your sources for your claimed knowledge.

Well as someone said, Okinawa doesn't list them on their website, and they used to be listed on their website.
