Friends of Japanese aquariums should take a look at this aquarium! The aquarium is located in the province of Shimane on the Sea of Japan. It was opened on 15. April 2000. Among the special features of the 9,000 square meter aquarium are the beluga whales, penguins, scalloped hammerhead and flying fishes from the south coast of Hokkaido. Beluga Whales: In September 1999, 1.3 white whales arrived in the aquarium (0.1 already died on 26.03.2000). On the 3rd of August 2009 1.0 Beluga Whale "Shilla" was born and on July 27th 2014 0,1 Beluga Whale "Milya" was born here. On April 22, 2011, a second plant for Beluga Whales are completed in the annex to the original aquarium. In early 2019, the aquarium shows a total of 3.4 beluga whales. Penguins: On November 13th, 2008 the exhibits for penguins are completed. King, Macaroni, Gentoo and Humboldt Penguins live here.
