It's now official. River Safari have just announced the birth of a Giant Panda to Kai Kai and Jia Jia. The cub was born on the 14th August. A video of the pregnancy and cub's progress is on their social media page: "WHO is the #littleone? We can’t keep it in anymore…We are absolutely thrilled to present you our giant #panda FAMILY! Yes, Kai Kai and Jia Jia just had a baby. Congratulations to the new parents and their animal care team!" Source: WRS's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=869181637328247
The zoo are hopeful of extending their lease on the Giant panda pair: Jia Jia as mother to Singapore's second panda cub in 2024?
Today I saw the animal in tank of the Mississippi River have been completed change to Congo river, like tigerfish, etc. Also there is new tank replaced the snake house of Mississippi River. So this theme will be completed removed?
Could anyone told me what kind of fish it is? I took the photo from the tank which was used for Mississippi River before. There are quite a lot of zebra tilapia in the same tank. Thanks.
Almost all of those African species were already in different tanks around the park last time so completely replacing the Mississippi River area was a real shame. Gars, snapping turtles and paddlefish are really cool. At least they're all still around Singapore (the zoo and the aquarium) so they aren't completely gone
Channa spp. are notorious jumpers. And the Toman (Channa micropeltes) in that tank can do some serious damage to a guest who decides to stick their hands or heads above the tank.
will mandai add new animals in the amazon river quest ride? second thing, why did mandai remove the scarlet ibises in the amazon river quest ride?
If I recall correctly the netting of the aviary is damaged. There are plans to replace the netting but other spending needs have taken precedence.

Giant pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia's stay in Singapore has been extended by 5 years till 2027 Giant pandas Jia Jia, Kai Kai to extend stay in Singapore until 2027
Wonderful news. I assume this was attributed to their recent success with the birth of Le Le last year. Hopefully Kai Kai and Jia Jia will become successful again; after all, they are now a successful breeding pair.
There should still be a few at Amazon River Quest. There are also Maras at the Zoo's Rainforest Fights Back show and Bird Paradise's Crimson Wetlands.
