There are 4 white Tigers born in Olmen, mother is the Tiger female Curry. Because she doesn"t come out of her cage during the opening time of the Zoo, these little one's are not easily to view.

It are 2 male, 2 female, the names? Jake, Josh, Jude en Jade :)

In 2008, the zoo had a top year. There were more than 200'000 visitors along.
This is a new record, with the takeover in 1995 there were 9'000 visitors.

For the record, in Olmen there was again a babyboom like the call it. The most special birth is a White tiger (King) that will be handraised so far as i can see.

But why am i making this post? To mention that Olmen is getting better. Some of the old (sometimes not legal, but that is in most zoo's with old cages) exhibits are removed, and replaced by better ones. And even the small towercage of the Gibbons is now empty. The Gibbons itself has now the old bear exhibit, with some trees to climb in ofcourse. Not the perfect solution, but sow much better then before.

A perfect sign that Olmen is on the right track!

First elephant (African) has arrived in Olmen:

It is Lukky (27) from circus Renz. (still there property, because she is young, but she can't be used in the circus, she missses here previous trainer to much). They are looking for 3 other elephants in Olmen now (but they admit, they don"t have any idea how now).

They are now also discussing how they should build a permanent exhibit for the elephant. Untill then it stays on the Zebra savanne.

    Enkelle news from Olmen:

    * The African elephant has been given a temporary stay just beyond the entrance. The former residence was converted donkey to elephant.

    * The cougars raised by hand are shown in the round cage at the parrots.

    * There are also kids to see the Caracal and the Panther.

The report shines again in the blunders of this organization.
    Thus, no lynx but cougars.
That was the elephant stable but temporary, is now put right.
The eagle-owl nesting boxes have certainly, have seen.

Another completely useless report of a completely useless organization.

Like said with the previous report, http://www.zoochat.com/13/gaia-report-23671/
Gaia is not correct with these things. They don"t walk arround with a zookeeper, so they don't see everything, or understand everything. Then you make faults like these...

remark, Limburg vooruit here ment that there where no lynxcubs but cougarscubs. :D

And why should common kestrels be kept in family groups? Don't they
realise that not every animal lives in groups!! So except stupid mistakes
there report also points out they lack knowledge on some basic aspects of
    animal welfare.
Also a nest box for common eagle owls is not always needed (some couples prefer breeding on the ground), plus this can
be a species you do not want to breed (as they are common plus more then
    plentifull available).

Nobody within the Zooworld of belgium takes them serious...

But they the side and approval of the "ordinary people", who like to here wrong things, but don't want to look further into it. And if you have the side of the visitors, you can be very annoying to the zoo's... Just like Gaia...

In the zoo there are 5 squirrel monkeys arrived. The 5 ladies will accompany the 3 men present.
They will be shown on the new island was created for them. The new accommodation is made on the 2 islands that were formerly the coati. These 2 islands are associated with climbing opportunities.
There is a set of winter made. Thus, the animals remain in place for the winter.

The last Variable squirrel ( Callisciurus finlaysonii ) at the Olmense Zoo has died :(. Now the species can only be seen at 2 public collections in Europe.
