    Hello!
I love snow leopards and was wondering how many there are in European zoos at the moment.

    I'll start from Finland.

One male, Lux (2017) in Korkeasaari Zoo. He's originally from France.

One male, Jamal (2015) and one female Juma (2017) in Ähtäri Zoo. Jamal is from UK, Juma from France. They are a breeding pair.

Ähtäri lost their male, Jamal to a kidney disease.

    Now they only have Juma.

Not so helpful post but there are 3 Snow leopards currently at Planckendael. 2 rotating in the on show exhibit and one behind the scenes.

I know there are two: Kiyan (1.0, born in 2015 in Dresden to Askin and Isatri) and Diem (0.1, born in 2020 in Saint Martin la Plaine to Makalu and Saïan). These two are often together in the enclosure.

I never heard of a third one behind the scenes.

The third one is or was behind the scenes, at the cages that you can spot from the canal, or you can spot from the Visayan warty pigs. Those cages also hold 2 spectacled bears (Tinka and Zamora) and jaguar (Zora 23 years old), I saw one holding an extra snow leopard, I don't know if it was for transport or temporary since Antwerp will hold snow leopards after finishing the Jubilee complex. Last time I was able to go and spot these animals was around April-May of this year. As well that an elephant keeper confirmed it. I just thought it was worth to mention.

Isn't the off show jaguar the one that used to be at Antwerp?

There is only one bear left. Zamora died earlier this year.

A pair of snow leopards arrived at Zie-Zoo today. They come from La Ménagerie, le zoo du Jardin des Plantes in Paris. They will be visible to the public from 22 July.

    They are:
    1,0 Darkan (26-04-2012, Zoo d'Amneville)
    0,1 Esha (23-06-2012, Korkeasaari Zoo)

At Zoo de Jurques, snow leopard male Him has died. He was being treated for cancer but his health deteriorated in recent days after which it was decided to put him to sleep. An autopsy showed that he had severe damage to several organs.
