Good luck to anyone living in Wisconsin and the surrounding states.. you're about to be colder than the average winter temperature in the Arctic!

Tell me about it. I had to install a heater in our chicken coop yesterday. On days this cold, I can sometimes go the whole day without seeing a wild animal.

However, this isn't the first year we've been this cold.

Wisconsin, the only place where you can have a -50 degree week and then a +50 degree weekend.

Apparently, they're calling for high winds (over 100 km/h) around southern Ontario.

And in Birmingham the sun is shining, but for some reason it's behind the thickest blanket of fog I've seen outside the coast...

The UK is experiencing the hottest February day on record. Just been for a lunchtime walk and there are people in central London wearing sleeveless summer dresses.

Why is it so hot in February?

Today, in Brisbane it is predicted to be a cool 29 degrees. On Monday it was the first time the temperature was under 30 degrees since 9th January. This 46 day run of days at or above 30 degrees was unprecedented in Brisbane and almost doubled the previous record.

Not just in Britain, Western mainland Europe is experiencing this hottest February on records too.

17-18 degrees in February... this is not just not normal, this is a fair ways beyond not normal.

I'm not complaining, I'm enjoying it a lot. I remember last year this time it was like 30 degrees (Celcius) colder and that was miserable. I just really, really don't like the cold.

However, at night it still gets pretty cold (as in, near or just under 0 Celcius) and in the morning you still need your good thick coat. However, by noon you could almost walk around in your T-shirt and a sweater is more than sufficient to keep you warm in the sun.

    Pretty crazy.

I just found out about it because I just got home from Europe. I went there for snow but they are having a winter heat wave and all the snow has melted! I should have stayed home!

After all Wisconsin snow had melted and we had weather warm enough for the cold-blooded animals to start coming out...

We got almost half a foot of snow. *sigh*
