It's good to hear about Bernardo joining Chester Zoo but does anyone know what happened to the other bear?

    Hi, welcome to Zoochat :)

To answer your question - Chester's previous male bear, Sangay died in June 2013 from age related complications

Oh dear, that is such a shame but old age catches up with all of us eventually.

We will luck forward to our next visit to the zoo, being members and living relatively close we normally get to the zoo once a month or so.

We have taken lots of lovely photographs of the bears and it will be great fun to see Bernardo.

sometimes the bears can be somewhat illusive but that only means we need to get back to the zoo a few weeks later.

    Best regards

    Nesbit;)

That is an understatement, last year a zoochatter tried to do a study on the female bear, she watched for a total of 20 hours and never saw the bear.
