I can follow quite a bit on the breeding facility and the facility set up. Just with the Portguese only ... could not really get a hang of what breeding success they have had so far. Care to elaborate? BTW: it is really important for the local audience to have access to an information source like this. Eco Reporter is a regular airing in Brasil?
Eco reporter is part of the Brazil public TV. according to the video the project "ararinha na naturaleza" funded by brazil government and enviromental groups has established a breeding center of 10 spix macaws at Curaza in the catinga area of bahia. There have still not been any natural births, yet, but Scientists are hopefull. The video notes that unlike the movie rio directed by brazilian director and animator carlos saldaña, in real life spix´s macaws are gone from the wild. however the movie created global awareness of the threat of animal trafficking.

Would some of these be the birds that came from Loro Parc in Tenerife? MODERATORS- I find this thread is frustratingly often impossible to access, possibly because of the large number of videos on it, which seem to just jam up my computer. Could we start a 'news only' thread for Spix, without any videos on it?
