on the gallery it says Suzhou zoo is closed, as is on google, which made me wonder, when did it close? And does this mean that it is impossible to see Yangtze soft shell turtle? Thanks.

I think the old zoo is now closed with animals having been transferred to the new site.

The new zoo is open and is pretty impressive. The turtle is onshow, although in an outside pool which is big enough to potentially make viewing difficult.

Thank you both for your help:)
Is the new site the ‘Suzhou forest zoo’ or somewhere totally different?

Yes, it's relatively easy to reach from the station, just one bus. I'd recommend buying a combined ticket for the zoo and adjacent park, which is good value and means you can walk the last kilometre to the zoo through pleasant gardens rather than a dusty road.
