Believed to be the biggest project of its kind in the world, Taihu Longemont Animal Paradise in Huzhou, China encompasses three animal theme park attractions and occupies over 7 square kilometres. The plan is to exhibit 11,000 animals. We have an article about this on our website and here is some concept art below.
Is this the same as Taihu Longemont Animal World? And if so does anyone know about how many brown hyenas they have?
@Aardvark, can you explain to me why so many zoos and esp. commercial safari operations in PR China seem to go for huge numbers at the outset? I do find 11,000 animals as advertised in 2017 a bit much. What is the general opinion or perhaps any of our other Chinese foresters care to comment with more thoughts on the why and wherefore? Thank you for your invaluable insights!
I just found interesting details on the internet: 30°57'17.77 "N 120° 2'58.26 "E The complex belongs to a huge resort project with numerous hotels, water park, circus and of course a large safari park. Through the safari park there is a 6 km long road as also a pedestrian bridge of a length of 2,2 km at first. This bridge will later be extended to 6 km. In May 2019 the safari park was provisionally opened for a few days. Also in May 5.3 young Asian elephants arrived in the park. The internet site is impressive but not very informative yet. 星耀南太湖 璀璨"龙之梦"_专题_湖州在线新闻网站 湖州龙之梦动物园门票 (第1页) - 一起扣扣网
