Taronga Western Plains Zoo has welcomed Australia's first Indian Rhino calf. A dedicated thread about this big news has been set up here: http://www.zoochat.com/24/indian-rhino-calf-born-428966/#post915429

Another female cheetah cub has been born (this time to Kyan) and is also being hand-reared: https://taronga.org.au/media/media-release/2015-11-30/cheetah-cub-gets-helping-hand-keepers
A female Southern white rhino calf has been born to mother Mopani and has been named Kamari meaning 'moonlight' in Swahili: https://taronga.org.au/media/media-...no-calf-early-christmas-conservation-delivery
There was also meant to be another black rhino birth this year (going by TWPZ's announcements), but I think it must have been stillborn/died shortly after birth.
Big news that has seemed to be missed from 2015 was that TWPZ exported 1.1 giraffe (male Nkosi and female Ajali, both born in 2014) to Ragunan Zoo in Jakarta. Nkosi has since been renamed Dirgah while Ajali has been renamed Ayuri70(!?): Ragunan Zoo welcomes two giraffes | The Jakarta Post
the 70th Independence Day of Indonesia was in 2015. The two names are taken directly from Dirgahayu R.I. which means "long live the Republic of Indonesia". So Dirgah and Ayuri plus a 70 on the end. See Yesterday, ?Governor Ahok named a pair of gift giraffes from Australia ?Dirgah? and ?Ayuri 70? | Coconuts Jakarta Also of note at the bottom of that article: "The pair of giraffes was given as a symbol of the Sister Province Cooperation between the provincial governments of Jakarta and New South Wales. Ragunan Zoo will also be loaning some animals to the Taronga Zoo."
