Sadly the size of a zoo's Salt Water Crocodile is not directly proportional to the quality of the zoo. If this were the case, and judging by recent Facebook reviews, some people are of the opinion that Taronga Zoo's 'crocodile' has 'shrunk' in recent years. #metaphor
yeah yeah I know.... but I am a sucker for large reptiles and love seeing them amongst collections of other megafauna
I don't know that one, is that a rare subspecies or something? Do you mean the Mary River of Northern Territory or that of Queensland? Taronga keeps freshwater crocodiles, in Reptile World if I remember correctly.
It would be great if Putra Mas was able to realise his potential as a breeding bull and to maximise the spread of his very valuable genes
I haven't heard anything recently, but will certainly post it if I do. Great that Putra Mas is a father again though...hopefully this calf will survive unlike the previous one
Taronga’s three giraffes moved to their new temporary accommodation in the old male elephant exhibit last week. They will stay there for about a year and a half until the African Savannah development is completed. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=706210999724599
On Taronga's maintenance page it says: Sounds like they've been having some problems with the walkthrough part of the exhibit, does anyone know more about this?
I’m pretty sure the enclosure they are in will be demolished to make way for the new gorilla enclosure to be built. The walk through was just a temporary way of filling that space between having the orangutans and being knocked down.
