Tenrec in zoos

Have got one question, is there any Uk or European zoos that keep tenrecs?

Belfast have some Madagascan Tenrecs which will go in the tropical house soon.

ALL tenrecs are Madagascan There are many different species on Madagascar and three of them can be found in zoos (and pet shops) outside of Madagascar. The species living in Europe are:

Tail-less or common tenrec

Lesser hedgehog tenrec

Greater hedgehog tenrec

Endangered Madagascar, a collection in Somerset have a breeding group of streaked tenrec, Hemicentetes nigriceps, standing at 3.5.7 as per ISIS.

That's awesome! I knew that there used to be highland streaked tenrecs (Hemicentetes nigriceps) in captivity, but I thought they were all gone. Now we just need some aquatic streaked tenrecs!

Cotswold wildlife park have a pair of Lesser hedgehog tenrec.
