The Cove and animals acquired for dolphinaria.

A two part commentary linked below on the inaccurate statements made by Richard O'Barry and others regarding the Japanese drive fishery and captive cetaceans in aquaria outside Asia.

O'Barry needs to just disappear. There is NO evidence that these animals leave the UK. Russia, possibly, but none of these animals get to Europe OR America. The Cove was good for one thing to highlight the Dolphin Slaughters, but it was 10 minutes out an hour long or so drama/documentary.

As I mention else where only two animals from this drive fishery where imported into the UK by Terry Nutkins to Knowsley Safari Park via Ocean Park in Hong Kong in 1981. See article in the Radio Time on the paper linked below:

Entam Dolphinariums - Rhyl - Knowsley - Woburn

What little credibility O'Barry had went many years ago it was inevitable that he would open his mouth once too often and be found to be a liar who wishes to just promote his own anti-zoo and aquarium agenda. There is only so much mileage you can get from saying "I trained TVs Flipper" which was some 45 years ago and in point of fact he wasn't the only person involved with training animals for both the two Flipper movies and television series.

There certainly is a story to be told regarding drive-fisheries but O'Barry isn't the one to tell it.

It will be interesting to see how willing the celebrity and media people will now view him when these videos get seen.
