    That was a great video! I had no idea his birth was that dramatic and traumatic.

    Interesting video. I hadn't realised the calf wasn't discovered until 6.30 a.m. when the staff came in to work.

    Despite what they say I think this was actually a very strong calf- he was still struggling to get to his feet despite the muscle paralysis all down one side, something which a weaker calf might not have done. Once he was up he quickly rallied and managed to start suckling on his own too.

    The video at one month old shows him plump and well rounded. Compare with the male calf born at Twycross last August- he was scrawny at birth and still had a prominent backbone and pinched appearance several months later.

    he was incredibly strong, I watched the zoo tv special last week even after such a difficult labour I can't believe he was under the fence and out of reach, out in the open like that until the keepers found him. What a strong little errr big guy Once again go mr. shuffles

    A little update about Mr Shuffles from todays newpaper he is doing very well at two months old and new weighs 190kgs, go Mr Shuffles!!!!!!!!!!!

    The newspaper only stated the weight of mr shuffles ;)
