I think she's kind of out of place. The BB students like @Zoofan15 said are all about being elegant and feminine and she's the female opposite of Hagrid!
In HPGF she’s described as elegant, but extremely tall. It could be one of those female empowerment things; but I think mostly she exists to serve as a (feminine) compatriot to Hagrid. They’re both half wizard/half giant and since we’re led to believe such hybridisation isn’t unheard of, it’d be kinda weird if we went the entire series without any mention of another half giant, apart from Hagrid. HP is all about diversity; and the giants (and half giants) add to this in their way. I think Hagrid’s giant brother is a pointless inclusion though as he’s really only shoe-horned into HPOP for the sake of taking out Umbridge (which could have been achieved by just about anyone bar Ron Weasley).

So I'm guessing most people on here have heard of Flat-Earthers (idiots who believe the Earth is actually a flat disc surrounded by an ice wall; government conspiracy; NASA of course; etc etc). Today while browsing randomly through Youtube I came across some videos from Flat-Earthers who also believe that volcanoes are fake. At first I thought the idea was that just the media is fake (i.e. photos and videos), but then it turned out that - due to the very obvious fact that a person can just go to somewhere like Hawaii and see active volcanoes for themselves - the conspiracy is also that the volcanoes themselves are fake. As in, the Freemasons (in this case) have built actual fake active volcanoes all over the world to make people think that the Earth is a globe. I must admit that I am a little bewildered by this, mostly by "why?" If volcanoes aren't even real in the first place, why would there be the need to build thousand foot high mounds of rock which nobody would expect anyway and then spew fake lava out the top when there would be no expectation of that occurring? Of course that is also an obvious question as to the Flat Earth itself - why would there be a conspiracy to make people believe the Earth is a globe? Just as puzzling is how this would be accomplished. I think they are implying that the lava isn't actually super-heated molten rock (they make much of people walking near lava flows because "that shouldn't be possible") but, nevertheless, how would one construct a working volcano to produce that quantity of "whatever it is" continuously? Maybe if the Freemasons used their apparently vast technological capabilities to cure famine or drought or sickness, they could just come out and say "hey actually the Earth is flat after all, we tricked you" and nobody would care. Also, has anyone here met a Freemason? Seems like 100% of the people on the planet who work in science-related fields must be Freemasons in order for the globe conspiracy to be real, because almost nothing technological or natural would work the way it does on a flat Earth. I don't think I'm a Freemason - but on the other hand, would I tell you if I was?

I heard recentley that some Flat-Earthers no longer believe in the ice wall. They have something called the "Pac-Man Effect" which says that if you go off one end of the Earth you come out on the other. So, in other words, it's a sphere.
I was trying to work out if either Batman's or Superman's mother could have been named in memory of the last Passenger Pigeon (in their world, not in the real world). Google tells me that the first Batman comic was in 1939 and the first Superman comic to name his mother was also in 1939. Both men are probably roughly the same age, which I'll estimate at 25 (Bruce became Batman between 20 and 24 depending on the comics; and on the cover of the 1939 Superman comics Clark also looks around 25-ish). That means that they would have both been born around 1914, which is the year that Martha the Passenger Pigeon died. Unfortunately for my theory, that means that their mothers were probably not also born in 1914...
