    Yep, this has been a little bit of a bane for both these threads and my previous "Species We Have Lost Since 1990" photographic thread :p even some species relatively-common in European collections into the mid-2000s are unrepresented, or barely-so, in the gallery.

    Can't be helped, unfortunately, but every so often these threads lead to some nice oddities popping up nonetheless :) for instance, someone joined the site a while ago in order to upload a photograph of the long-lived Shelley's Eagle Owl which was displayed at Antwerp from the mid-1960s into the early 1990s, and which was one of only about a dozen known specimens ever recorded of the species.

    (Dendrortyx barbatus)

    The range of this species is restricted to a patchy and highly-fragmented distribution in east-central Mexico.

    Long-tailed Wood-partridge
    (Dendrortyx macroura)

    The range of this species represents a patchy distribution of disjunct populations in central and south-central Mexico.

    Six subspecies are recognised:

    D. m. diversus
    D. m. striatus
    D. m. griseipectus
    D. m. macroura
    D. m. inesperatus
    D. m. oaxacae

    Buffy-crowned Wood-partridge
    (Dendrortyx leucophrys)

    The range of this species represents three disjunct populations in Central America; in southeast Mexico and throughout southern Guatemala; throughout Honduras and immediately-adjacent northwest El Salvador and southeast Guatemala; and in central Costa Rica.

    Two subspecies are recognised:

    D. l. leucophrys
    D. l. hypospodius

    Marbled Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus gujanensis)

    The range of this species extends from southwest Costa Rica into northwest Colombia, and from here throughout much of northern South America east of the Andes, as far south as southwest Bolivia and northernmost Paraguay, and across much of Amazonian Brazil.

    Eight subspecies are recognised:

    O. g. castigatus
    O. g. marmoratus
    O. g. medius
    O. g. gujanensis
    O. g. buckleyi
    O. g. rufogularis
    O. g. pachyrhynchus
    O. g. simonsi

    Spot-winged Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus capueira)

    The range of this species represents two disjunct populations; in northeast Brazil; and across eastern and southeast Brazil into northeast Argentina and eastern Paraguay.

    Two subspecies are recognised:

    O. c. plumbeicollis
    O. c. capueira

    Black-eared Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus melanotis)

    The range of this species extends throughout much of Central America, from the Caribbean coastline of Honduras in the north to southernmost Panama in the south.

    Two subspecies are recognised:

    O. m. verecundus
    O. m. melanotis

    Rufous-fronted Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus erythrops)

    The range of this species extends throughout the Pacific slope of the northern Andes, from northwest Colombia to southwest Ecuador.

    Black-fronted Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus atrifrons)

    The range of this species represents a small handful of highly-fragmented and disjunct populations in the mountains of northeast Colombia and adjacent northwest Venezuela.

    O. a. navai
    O. a. variegatus

    Chestnut Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus hyperythrus)

    The range of this species is restricted to the western and central Andes of Colombia.

    (Odontophorus melanonotus)

    The range of this species is restricted to a short stretch of the Andes in southwest Colombia and northwest Ecuador.

    Rufous-breasted Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus speciosus)

    The range of this species extends throughout the Pacific slope of the Andes from southernmost Colombia in the north to central Bolivia in the south.

    Three subspecies are recognised:

    O. s. speciosus
    O. s. loricatus

    Tacarcuna Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus dialeucos)

    The range of this species is restricted to the Tacarcuna ridge of extreme eastern Panama and adjacent northwest Colombia.

    Gorgeted Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus strophium)

    The range of this species is restricted to a small region of the western slope of the Andes in northeast Colombia.

    Venezuelan Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus columbianus)

    The range of this species is restricted to a short coastal stretch of north-central Venezuela.

    Monotypic; no photographs of this species are present within the Zoochat gallery.


    Black-breasted Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus leucolaemus)

    The range of this species extends throughout the highlands of Costa Rica, primarily on the Caribbean slope, and into western Panama.

    Stripe-faced Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus balliviani)

    The range of this species is restricted to the eastern slope of the Andes in southeast Peru and western Bolivia.

    Monotypic; no photographs of this species are present within the Zoochat gallery.


    Starred Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus stellatus)

    The range of this species extends throughout the upper Amazon Basin, from eastern Ecuador in the north to northwest Bolivia in the south, and east into central and western Brazil south of the Amazon.

    Spotted Wood-quail
    (Odontophorus guttatus)

    The range of this species extends patchily throughout much of Central America, from southern Mexico in the north to northern Nicaragua in the south; a disjunct population is present in Costa Rica and adjacent western Panama.

    The range of this species represents a pair of disjunct populations; from northeast Honduras in the north to northern Costa Rica in the south; and from southeast Costa Rica in the north through the Pacific slope of the Andes to northwest Ecuador.

    R. c. australis

    It's a bit of a balancing act between doing so, and having even more gaps than the thread already will, or not doing so and lacking an interesting aspect of galliform appearance :p but as Crested Partridge is one of the easier ones I can readily add a shot in for that species if you like.
