After have been planned this tour since the end of last year, I and my mom will take a trip and explore Central Europe and to visit some zoos. The countries we will visit are Switzerland, France, Germany and totally about 9 zoos. This is our first time ever to visit Switzerland and France. We will travel with train between the cities and countries (We have bought Interrail card). :)

The plan looks so far -

June 1 - Fly to Zürich.
    June 2 - Zürich Zoo.
    June 3 - Voliere Zürich.
June 4 - Basel Zoo and hopefully Tierpark Erlen-Verein.
    June 5 - Mulhouse Zoo.
    June 6 - Heidelberg Zoo.
    June 8 - Nürnberg Zoo.
June 10-12 - Opel Zoo and Frankfurt zoo.
June 13 - Fly back to Sweden.

It would be friendly if someone of you, who has visited any of these zoos and are having some good recommendations about what I must to see on this tour, so I'm not missed it.

    ;)

Sounds like a great trip Thesweham. The only one I've been to is Zurich Zoo, which has many world-class exhibits, with Masaola Rainforest the best (and potentially the single best zoo exhibit in the world). Its a fairly straightforward zoo to get around, and I don't think you're likely to miss anything. Plan on spending as much time as possible in Masaola, and make sure you explore all the pathways! Definitely a whole day zoo if you can wrangle it.

Looking forward to hearing about your trip!

That's a good trip! But I don't belive that you will need one day for the Voliere Zürich. May you can add the Wildnispark Langenberg or an other day in the zoo, honestly I never needed more than 4 hours for the zoo, but I went there with a person who never visited it bevore and we spent 7 hours there and didn't seen the Masoala rainforest and the etiopian highlands.

Hey Thesweham, hope you're having fun. I'm glad arafan already mentioned that Zurich's voliere doesn't need long. Hope you spent a brilliant day at the zoo, and that you enjoy the rest of the trip!

Tierpark Lange Erlen en Basel can easily be combined within a day. And I would advise you to include a 2 hour visit to Zoo Landau on your day in Heidelberg. Or skip these alltogether and go to the Wilhelma in Stuttgart instead, which I find one of the most interesting German zoos.

I arrived to Zürich at noon on Monday after a safe flight from Gothenburg, Sweden. on Tuesday I visited the zoo and I like it, many great exhibits for example the new Elephant park and Masaola Rainforest, the weather was very hot (about 25-28 + degrees) too. On Wednesday I went out after breakfast and took the tram down to Voliere and also to visited the park and walked along the lake in the hot weather.

    I will update more soon.
