I can second this! A phenomenal book, one of my personal favourites, and the main reason behind my visit to the Hawk Conservancy Trust today. Even though this is the site that bought it to my attention, I was somehow not aware that it was written by a ZooChat member. Now, I am even more fond!

An update to this one; he was gone for quite some time, but has been active and posting again lately :)

Two prominent UK forum members that I haven't seen in a good while would be taun and devilfish.

He never seems to post on the UK threads anymore though...which he did frequently before.

Devilfish may not have been active here lately but he's still very much an active nerd, I can confirm!

I'm deeply offended by this post. I thought I was your favourite... :(:p

What exactly happened with Kakapo? I know there was some controversy and debate on his views on taxonomy, but I don't know the specifics. Did they get banned or did they leave by themselves? It's just odd to see such a long time member disappear from the website.

Kakapo is no longer a member of this site. My policy is not to discuss specifics.

Just noticed that sooty mangabey has not been on this site for over two years. Hope they're okay.

Sooty is alive and thriving, but (like some others mentioned in this thread) chooses not to contribute on ZooChat anymore. He has written one book and is closing in on a second since he departed the site.

Having had a very enjoyable day out with him at the weekend seeking out wild Red Grouse and Black Grouse in the upper reaches of the Pennines, I can second this one :D

He's been keeping very well, and merely doesn't feel the inclination to post on Zoochat these days - in any case, he's been kept very busy by writing books and visiting zoos!

Likewise noticed Zoogiraffe hasn't been around for nearly four. I hope he's well.

Zoogiraffe is very active on Facebook and doing well. He's been visiting loads of zoos like normal, but for whatever reason stopped posting on ZooChat years ago.

Having last spoken to him on the phone yesterday in order to discuss an ongoing matter we are helping the Bartlett Society to deal with, I can also confirm that ZG is still active in the wider UK zoo enthusiast community away from the forum and doing pretty well.
