The cub was born to the female residing in Tierpark Berlin. Only her male breeding partner currently lives at Berlin Zoo.

Alas and undeservedly so, Tierpark does suffer the disservice that many associate Berlin Zoologischer Garten with Berlin and Zoo and look no further.

Interesting. The article states that the cub was born at Berlin?? Maybe a mistake by the media?

Yes and no. On the one hand media having no apparent clue(s) at all and partially the general public that look no further than their capacity to read, live and learn.

I know there are other reports, but the initial one (posted) is Daily Mail so no surprise they have got it wrong...

To my pleasure and surprise, (official!) news was broken that Tierpark Berlin will receive bear cuscus from Indonesia to live in an indoor exhibit of the tropical hall inside the Brehm building. Mentioning said Brehm building: Finally work seems to be progressing. The newly extended indoor halls for Sumatran tigers slowly take shape and there are first visible works on the outside enclosures (e.g. those to exhibit Javanese Leopards). It was in the context of naming the four little Sumatran tigers that the embassador of Indonesia announced deepening the well-working cooperation with Tierpark Berlin as well as other German zoos to follow. The embassador seems to be very interested in animals and breeding programmes, as he has taken part in naming young Javanese Leopards in the past. I believe the bear cuscus could come straight from Indonesia as well.

The little polar bear is doing well, according to a recent news article.

Work in and around the Brehm building also seems to progress. I received a message from Tierpark's PR team, telling me that the crocodile pool inside the tropical hall is to be constructed and the large indoor enclosure is to receive large windows as well as a steel net early in 2019. This is what the enclosure looked like a couple of weeks ago:

And this is what it should look like eventually:

According to the above mentioned article, plans for the Africa building (former pachydermy) are finished. Works should begin soon after the Brehm building is finished.
