Interesting. I am unsure what this area will be used for. The zoo has not really been talked about. I am a member and I have not heard much. I do not know if it will be animal exhibits, museum exhibits, or both.
I believe that they are receiving different animals, reptiles specifically, like 2 komodo dragons and many types of venomous snakes.
I emailed the zoo to ask for information about the Aviary renovation and the Museum of Science renovation. I was told nothing. Not even a reopening date for the Aviary. I am curious about the Aviary. I know exhibits are being moved around and species will be added. I am curious what is being added.
The new African lion breeding plan has Toledo getting two young males. The big question is: Where will they put them?
How did you find this out? They will probably place them into the Valley, since that is currently being used only for reindeer, and the renovation for the Valley into the Tiger/ Jungle Dome is around 7 years from now.
I am a Friend of the AZA, so I get access to the studbooks, breeding and transfer plans, etc. as they are added to the Members section of the AZA website.
The Aviary will reopen March 10th after renovations. The Museum of Science is now closed for renovations. No reopening date was given on the zoo's website.
I do not know. I asked the zoo about what is going on and they told me nothing. I am wondering if this is for a summer exhibit in the main hall. I do not think everyone has moved out of the museum yet.
Toledo to launch new animal show this year. It will be able to be presented off-site like Akron's and Cleveland's.
New Toledo show will be called Wild Animal Adventure. During a Facebook Live video with a animal from the new show, it was mentioned that Aviary renovation is TOP SECRET. It reopens this weekend, so the secret should be out soon. I am curious what makes it so secretive. They have not revealed 2017 plans yet. Not even to members.
I don't know what would make the renovation so secretive. The only possibility I can think of is possibly a new animal or switching up some exhibits.
