I think Columbus zoo has Somali ostriches, so maybe not.

The only zoo that had Somali Ostrich as of the end of 2018 was the LA Zoo with two females.

They’ve now got cougars as their fourth big cat species.

Of course, Cougars are not big cats despite being big cats :p

I know that, I meant in the non-technical sense.
In terms of true big cats, the only ones in Toledo’s collection are the tigers and snow leopards.

Toledo doesn't have lions? That's quite strange; almost every major zoo in the country has them.

Not since the last of the white lion brothers passed away at the end of 2015.

They are currently using the lion yard as a temporary holding area for a Kodiak bear and two grizzly bears, at least until the new River exhibit is built near Arctic Encounter. (Personally, I'd expand the elephant yard into the former hippo space, maintaining/retrofitting the underwater viewing area, and effectively re-theme the area to be based off of a term used on safari, The Big Five. Replacing Aashish the Indian rhino with black rhinos, (sending him to another zoo), putting cape buffalo where the camels/reindeer currently are, utilizing one of the Tiger Terrace exhibits for Amur leopard (as per the SSP), and bringing back lions. Maybe the rockwork could be retrofitted slightly.)

Do you have any idea of when the river exhibit will open? I remember hearing about it for the first time back in 2015 but haven’t known of any updates since.

All I know is once the lion exhibit opened up, the zoo decided to obtain these bears and hold them temporarily in the lion yard. I don't know when exactly the River exhibit will open, I might contact the Zoo and ask.
