The African spoonbill chicks have been named, Rita and Reese Witherspoonbill. Poor Rita they didn't even try to be funny with her name. Why not Tea Spoon? Although maybe keepers wanted to name her after poor Curly Rita the wattled crane who met an unpleasant end.

I'm going to reload my updated master list. Seems like a good time to do it since we currently aren't waiting on a bunch of births at the moment. Yes maybe a few but nothing confirmed yet.

The last two barbary sheep are Dominic and Deirdre. Phase out is nearly complete.

The mouflon are down to 15 animals. The only remaining males are Solomon and Usain Bolt. Two more female names to add to the list are Porshe and Fifa. Fifa has a black tag in the right ear and a blue in the left ear. Rosie the hand reared one has yellow tags in both ears.

I am attaching the link to my list of former and current animal names. Anyone can feel free to criticize it as much as they want because I know there are definitely some errors. If it is in bold it means it is still at the zoo. If it's in italics then it isn't at the zoo and if it is normal font then that means I'm not sure.

The snow goose gosling was named Ryan Gosling. I love when we go for the fun names. His parents are Misty and Janis. The zoo is now down to 4 birds so the last is Han just to update all the names.

And while I am posting lets note the other changes I happen to remember.

    Add
    Hamerkop - MC Hamerkop (F)
Goats - Easter Bunny (M), Mollie Bean (F), Romeo (M), Moonshine (M) arrived
    Przewalski's horse - Ryder (M)
    Red Fox - Todd (M)
    Aplomado Falcon - Zaya (F)

    Remove
    Hamerkop - Homer (M)
    Kangaroo - Tully (M), Mudgee (F), Alice (F)
    Cheetah - Emma (F)
    Penguins - Buddy (M) and Squeak (F)
    Jaguar - Zambucca (F)
    Bison - Garth (M)
    Tawny Frogmouth - Makepeace (M)
    Secretary Bird - Katani (M)
Blue Crowned Mot Mot - Tom Tom (M)
Blue Fairy Bird - Ira (M)
    Meerkats - Bill (M), Tara (F) and Lafayette (F)
    Lynx - Hamiltion (F)

There are probably others on the list that need to be removed and others that could be added.

I actually had no idea they'd already gotten a caribou herd, I thought all I saw on my visit was the same single remaining reindeer I saw in 2019. Maybe I have to reexamine my photos.

We needed you to find us before your visit. You could have appreciated what you were looking at. I'm fairly sure the last reindeer, Snowy, is dead. The last live named all the caribou and showed you all of them and there was no Snowy or mention of her. Makes sense as the last calves were born I think no later than 2002 so she would be quite elderly if still alive.

Be sure to post some of your photos to the media section for Toronto. Who knows what you might find out when people comment. Sometimes the photos get a discussion going. Most of the time, thats not the case.

I can have the pics I got posted in a couple minutes if you'd like to have a look at them. Examining them, I feel like one is the reindeer and the other is a caribou, but the first could just as easily be a young caribou...

All of the caribou girls are several years old and are mothers and daughters. There is no bull and thus no calves. There is some size differences between the girls which might be why you thought one was a reindeer or young.

@TZFan for the Bald Eagle, Jade is retired, the one in the Canadian Domain exhibit is Arya. Shelly the Spiny Softshell Turtle is down, a Wood Turtle named Tiny Tim currently living in that exhibit. And, I think you miss the two Crested Fireback Pheasants in Indo-Malayan Pavilion, Inferno and Chuck.

@StellarChaser, thanks for the updates. Always good to sort things out. I often rely on others to catch what needs to be changed. Fairly certain the kids zoo needs an overhaul but that will take soneone knowing what needes to go. Catch 22.

What do you mean by Shelly is down? Dead. Elsewhere? Transferred?

The pheasants should be on the list because i recognize and agree those are the names. Hmmm.... if they arent there then there was a glitch when I copied the list and pasted it. Ill go check the master copy right now.

Shelly had been off exhibit for a while, since August at least. Interestingly though I don't think Tiny Tim had been on exhibit for a while. He used to share the turtle tank with the Blanding's turtle, Mrs. Stumps, and the painted turtles, but I hadn't seen him at all this year.

@Kalvin you seem to know a lot of little names not on the list. Would you be willing to double check the list and help me delete whats gone and add a bunch of the ones you know that I doubt I will ever learn without you? I have the distinct impression you could do the list a world of good. Its been a long time since I have had anyone who can help with reptiles, fish and smaller birds. Totally up to you though. No pressure. I'd just love and apperciate the help from someone as in the know as you.

For sure. You'd just have to give me a few days as I'm fairly busy this week.

I was originally going to make a full list but for the sake of keeping the thread relatively short, I'll just mention animals that aren't on the list or no longer at the zoo, based on TZfan's masterlist

    Indo-Malaya
    - The marsh turtles are gone. I don't know if this has been mentioned before but the zoo was only temporarily holding them for some other organization.
    - Cabot's Tragopans are also gone
    - I believe Glenda the Soft-shelled turtle has also passed.

    Malayan Crested Fireback
    Inferno (M)
    Chuck (F)

    Monocled Cobra
    Monica (M)

    African Rainforest
    - I feel like this is somewhat common knowledge, but not on the list is Lexy, the naked mole rat queen.

    Cape Shelduck
    Dexter (M)
    Lila (F)

    Aba Aba
    Fernando

    Americas

    Black-footed Ferret (Display)

Vicious (M) (Display in aquatic wing)

    Wood Turtle
    Tiny Tim (M)

    Blanding's Turtle
    Mrs. Stumps (F)

    Electric Eel
    Carmen (F) Now passed

    Australasia
    - Freckles is the last remaining Black Tree Monitor

    Fiji Banded Iguana

    Barred Owl
    Charlotte

    Eurasian Eagle Owl
    Sheldon (M)

    Red-legged/Crested Seriema
    Nadine (F)

I'm not being super thorough and I'm sure some of this information is somewhere else here but comparing TZfan's list to mine here are the ones that stood out.
