Good question! Maybe we should ask her ;) I'm planning on visiting soon so I'll see if I can find a ballpark figure, unless she has him/her by then.

I think Twiga may be due sooner then March 2011. Not sure?

So who is thinking about the penguins? I wonder what the plans are going to look like?

Oh wow, I misread that as March 2010 :D I had forgotten about the giraffe's long gestation period. Haven't seen any penguin plans yet.

Just wondering about the penguins I have seen alot of talk about them going into the seal enclosure but I'm unsure if the zoos getting rid of thier seals, thier one of my favorite animals at the zoo.

Where would the put the orangs outdoor, the pavillion backs right on to a revine if Im not mistacken. Then again I havent been to the zoo in a bit.

The seal (Rosie) will be shipped to another zoo, I can't remember which one. She is the last of her species in North America.

The orangs outdoor exhibit will be in the ravine. That is from what I understood, but I may be wrong so do not quote me on it.

Shame the seals are gone but then agian they did have a swimming pattern so mabey its better thier gone still they will be missed. As for the orangs it would deffinatly give a cool look to the enclosure if it was in the ravine and the animals were/are looking down at you.

    Thanks for all your help.

The ravine is a great choice for the orangs. At first I thought it'd be too steep, but then again I think it'd encourage them to be more active and explore.

From what I can find on ISIS ISIS :: Find Animals
under "Mammals,Common Names, C" Toronto is/was the only zoo in north america to keep any species of fur seals.

By the walkway towards the Sumatran Tigers (indoor viewing). In the vicinity of the Orang exhibit.

You're very welcome! I hope they make use of the trees, that would be so cool to see them climbing on something natural.

Right now the half of the African Pavillion is under reno so its closed and the zoo is planning to move the Canadian Domain up to share with Eurasia. The old seal enclosure is going to be turned into a penguin enclosure, in planning right now. And pandas in two or three years.

Nothing new has been talked about. Feel free to go through the thread and take a look at the projects. The newest one underway is the penguin exhibit. Other than that, the rest of the projects are waiting for the money to move forward. Keep an eye out for the opening of the pavilion as well!
