Tulsa Zoo is a mid-sized zoo (84 acres) that opened in 1927. The zoo is best known for its complex of North American exhibits called the "North American Living Museum", comprising of Arctic, Eastern Forests, Southwestern Deserts, and Southeastern Swamp exhibits.

Currently the zoo's future plans include an event center and a new sea lion exhibit. At one time, the zoo had a masterplan posted on their previous website that also showed more development of an African region and an expansion of the N American Living Museum.
