From a visit today - groundwork has started on the Giraffe exhibit and the final Roloway Monkey has died. She was the last in the UK

    Shame, but of little surprise.

As far as I am aware, there are still no recommendations for the snow leopard cubs, and like Marwell it the population does not decline then the remaining adult snow leopards will be retired from the breeding program. That would be a hard hit for a zoo that has built such an enclosure.

Certainly HWP will be needing animals for their new enclosure for next year.

We had a lovely visit to Twycross today. Haven't been in some 18 months or so. Good to see Coco the brown chimp still going strong. Not a regular so couldn't comment on anything much but Lorikeet Landing was brilliant! Will add photos!

Had a lovely quiet Boxing Day visit to Twycross today. The new giraffe area has been started. The framework for the house is in place, it looks huge, and large telegraph posts have been sunk around the edges of the new paddock, presumably to attach fencing. This area also looks very big. At the moment you can see it with restricted viewing from the back of the elephants.
