Yaaaaay! That brings the ape numbers at the zoo back up to 41! I hope it's a girl :) it'll be good for Lope to have someone nearer to his own age to play with

Great news, get another breeding female in the group and they have a nice little group there.

Have to say I am shocked just how few people have sad what a shock Nats death is,but the I suspect everyone knew what Molly looked like as she was the public face of the zoo, while Nat was very much the one that made sure things worked behind the scenes,it was Nat that very much made sure the zoo made a profit,so I say fair well to the best of the best at making thinks tick behind the scenes!

A death at 98 is not really a shock, but it's certainly sad news. Hopefully if Ozala's baby is female, she has a ready-made name to honour Nathalie.

I'm not sure it is a shock given her age - but of course it is sad news all the same.

No further details, only the iPlayer link:

BBC One - Inside Out East Midlands, 03/10/2016

The last story in the programme focuses on how Twycross have been adapting the chimps' current accommodation. I managed to spy all of the 13 main group members, and Danny. Towards the end of the report they mention how the new enclosure based off of the recent improvements to the current enclosure will be ready next year.

They will need to start work soon if they are going to have it finished ready for next season.

Yes, they also need to speed up introducing the trios in the complex.

I wondered if they might leave that until they have more room in another house. The interior of that old house really is very cramped. Not the best for trying new combinations.

A new one has been installed now.

Saw the little Gorilla being carried around on mums wrist.

All the Gibbons have ventured out now at some point. One of the Pleated is out singing most mornings apparently and the young Agile was rolling around in the vegetation for quite a while. :)

From photos on Facebook it looks like the baby gorilla is another male.
