Similar line with botanic gardens (they're good for casual birding and getting out and about, so I'll put this here as an aside). As far as I can tell, most, if not all, botanic gardens are remaining open, and all seem to be waiving entry fees and making themselves free to enter. Cafes are becoming take-away only, or spreading tables out to the gardens, to provide for social distancing. Glasshouses are closing, as is to be expected, but otherwise, for now, botanic gardens are providing another vital place for fresh air, open space, and a place to see that life and nature endure

ZSL has survived two world wars and it will survive this, maybe in a different form but survive nonetheless. Don’t forget those now out in the field-the researchers, rangers and anti-poaching brigades whose livelihoods and incomes depend on overseas tourism. Now, more than ever, it’s these individuals who need our support.
