Plus Halloween revenue from half term. The next significant revenue stream of course would come from Christmas events which generally don’t start until the last week of November. Let’s not forget that there’s also money to be made from adoptions, experiences etc being purchased as Xmas presents.
Absolutely love this, optimism in the face of adversity is probably my favourite British trait/stereotype!
The current wording New National Restrictions from 5 November To reduce social contact, the Government has ordered certain businesses and venues to close. What’s the alternative? Crying in a corner bemoaning how bad the whole sorry state of affairs is? I refuse to accept that! Get out there and support your zoo!
Zoo's will close from 4pm. I've just had an FB message reply (to all visitors) from Chester Zoo to say they will close at 4pm on Wednesday, until December 2nd. They are suggesting 3 options for those who have already booked tickets during the lockdown to either. 1.Donate the price of the admission to fund the zoo 2.Ask for a transfer for a period from Dec 3rd to March 31st next year 3.or simply cancel the ticket and claim a refund.
Been looking at the rules can I travel By myself from tier 2 to a tier 3 area zoo ? Would like to do one last trip before lock down. If not can I do tier 2 to a tier 1 zoo . Can't get my head around it between what's legal and just advised just try and be safe.
Personally this latest lockdown has thrown a spanner in my personal works. I was due to visit Hamerton this coming Friday, alas that is no longer possible due to upcoming restrictions. Fortunately they've allowed me to rebook once I know when I can go again. I even offered to donate the ticket money but they offered a return instead. Good on them! On a more positive note I'm off to Chester tomorrow, Birmingham Tuesday, and it's looking like I could be at ZSL and maybe the Natural History Museum on Wednesday. Could be my last chance to visit anywhere for a while. Some people panic buy, I panic book!
Pretty much. This will all end much faster if people stop looking for loopholes and follow one basic rule: if you don’t need to travel, don’t travel.
We were supposed to be going to Chester's Lanterns in November with an overnight stay and visiting the zoo the following day. Apparently they will be sending an alternative December date for the Lanterns ticket which confuses me a bit as I thought all the December tickets were sold out. Maybe they intend on extending it - unlikely we will be able to go in December though which I'm gutted about but obviously better to be safe.
I found this interesting - from Tropiquaria on Facebook - Log into Facebook | Facebook: Directors Blog, Lockdown 2, day 11, A very variable Sunday as far as the weather is concerned. Rain to sun to wind. As far as the zoo world is concerned there is little direct animal news today, but the Sunday Express ( Zoos "face extinction because of red tape") and slightly strangely, National Geographic, (Zoo crisis deepens amidst second national lockdown and "restrictive" bailout conditions)., are carrying a zoo story that I am going to comment on in detail. It concerns the ongoing covid situation, the way that it effects zoos, and the government aid schemes. There is criticism over the way that the scheme has been set up and who can benefit and who cannot. read more ...
Funny you should post this. I've been following it too. I found it very interesting. He/she always ends with a daily music selection as well...
It's clear that this pandemic has led to untold struggle and strife in zoo's,sanctuaries and mixed animal farms Sadly Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre has been forced to permanently close.
Not that Amazon need anymore money but I’ve found typing “smile” before the .co.uk web address means that they will make a donation to a chosen charity with any purchase made. ZSL happens to be one of the charities they’ll support.
