Regulars on this forum know I am obsessed with photographing wild cats. Lately I am focused on adding cubs and kittens to my collection. Last year (2019) I kept a private document of births and I have now started one for 2020. I am deciding to post it as a public thread for two reasons. The first is in case any other cat lovers are interested. The second is in hopes that some of you will post births I might otherwise miss. Please add any you find out about in the thread, but ONLY those in the USA and ONLY cat species.

Edit - dates with a question mark are those I am not sure of, but are close. The zoo standard for gender is male.female.unkown (so 0.0.2 means two cubs of unkown gender, 1.2 means one male and two females).

I believe 4 cheetah cubs were born at the Smithsonian Zoo a couple days ago.

4 cheetah cubs were born at Wildlife Safari on March 28. Like Smithsonian, they're one of the few breeding centers for cheetahs in the US, so it's unknown if they'll be viewable before they're adults (if at all).

4.1 cheetahs were born at Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, Kansas sometime around December/January, not sure if you have it recorded or not. Three of the males are now at Animal Ark in Reno, NV. Not sure where the other two are, but Animal Ark's post about their arrival indicates they are also on loan to another facility (or facilities).

There were also two Amur Leopard cubs born at Greenville Zoo (1.1) on 2/10/2020. Very much appreciate that you are doing this as I have specifically been following births / deaths of Amur Leopards and these are not always easily searchable. I have 7 births in 2019 including two that did not survive in case you need details for that year. Thanks

Based on the social media post and animal transaction sheet, it’s only said have been born in the month of January without being too specific as to the exact day.

Hopefully when all of this pandemic slows down more, I’ll be using my new lens to take so many photos of the ocelot kitten so you can see @Arizona Docent :)

New lens? Let me guess. Even though it is just starting to ship you somehow got an early issue of the brand new Nikon 120-300 f2.8 that only costs ten thousand dollars.

Haha no but I’ve heard the issues with their upcoming lenses in regards to them being shipping  I’m getting an 85mm f/1.8 for the Z 50, I really wanna test it out if early morning when the ocelots like to take a morning stroll around their exhibit :p I do want to get a larger telephoto lens which I may acquire the FTZ adapter for it to get an older lens or wait for whenever they decide to release their new Z lenses.

Updated again with another litter of cheetahs, which are the leading species so far. Kind of surprising considering how difficult they are to breed. They were born at Fossil Rim but mother neglected them and two of the five were transferred to the litter at Wildlife Safari. Remaining three are being hand raised.
