Very sad news from the zoo's Facebook page today. Co-founder Gino Altin has died. Every time you see a maned wolf in an Australian collection, think of him. Without his dedication they wouldn't be here, and they are a visible, though no doubt very small part of his legacy.

Condolences to his family and everybody at Altina.

(This should obviously be in the Altina sub-forum, but I appear to have messed that up.)

Sad news indeed. Altina is one of the more progressive zoos in the country.

I usually talked to Gino when I went to Altina. He was a genuine and down to earth bloke and he started Altina due to his love of animals.

I was lucky enough to meet him when I visited the zoo and also when he interviewed me for a job. He will be sadly missed.
