Very Exotic Shape/Size/Colour of Tropical Animal, Present Yours?

Not sure that I would classify these as particularly "exotic" in size, colour or shape myself - what is your line of thought?

 

They *are* pretty rare, but this thread is specifically aimed at highlighting species which are unusual in terms of the parameters mentioned above hence my confusion about why you were citing this one!

I'd still love to see one, of course broadly speaking they are more or less an island dwarf form of the Asian Golden Cat, which I *have* seen, but given that this is one of my favourite taxa it doesn't alter the fact I would love to see a slightly-different looking animal!

 

To the best of my knowledge there are no captive Bay Cat anywhere in the world; every so often one is captured briefly, generally tagged and then released once again.

 

Could be accurate - looking at the details listed the animal in question was only present for scarcely a month before it (presumably) died. However, given the fact that the species was believed to be a subspecies of the Asian Golden Cat at the time it is *also* possible that the animal in question belonged to the latter taxon and that the import source has been misidentified. Probably no way we will ever be certain.

A slight correction, however - you misread the ZTL listing; the collection is Bioparco di Roma, which was formerly called Rome Zoo, rather than being a collection called Bioparco-Vormals Zoo. As you can perhaps guess, the "vormals Zoo" in the listing is not a name, but the German for "formerly Zoo"

 

I wouldn't worry about it when it comes to Zootierliste there are generally only a few basic terms you need to learn to recognise in the annotations for a given entry in order to get a good picture of what is being conveyed:

Ausgeschildert - Signposted (can be preceded with "nicht" to mean "not signposted")
Gesehen - Seen (can be preceded with "nicht" to mean "not seen")

Most other stuff you can either work out from the context, or because it is a variation of one or more phrases above.
