Just discovered this. Very intresting piece of zoo-history, thanks @kiang !
As I already told in several other threads I've been here as a very young child several times but can remember just very little of it.
The zoo was owned by a family who were also animal-dealers and many of the animals were sold after they had been on display later to other zoos, birdparks or even private holders. An example can be seen in the video-clip : no zoo keeps a large number of Sarus cranes together just for displaying them !
A good number of animals that died at the zoo were stuffed and ended up in the Brabants Natuur Museum, also located in Tilburg.
ZooTierListe lists only 45 animal-species for this collection but many, many more were kept there !
An example for this was a female Snow leopard 'Lady Amherst'which was obtained from Russia in 1964 and sold 6 months later ( Feb. 1965 ) to the USA. No mention of this species on ZooTierliste.
Also the Sarus cranes which can clearly be recognized in the video-clip are not on ZooTierListe.
